Tine Gøtzsche hosted the live conference consisting of DR’s Director General Maria Rørbye Ronn, Executive Producer Pernille Gaardbo, Head of Show Jan Lagermand Lundme and Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen. They discussed their ideas for next years’ ‘Eurovision Island’ which will take place in B&W Hallerne on Refshaleøen.
Frank Jensen, Mayor of Copenhagen, proceeded to speak of the declaration by the European Union Committee, that Copenhagen is Europe’s Green Capital to which the contest will be integrated into as a ‘green show’. The figure of 40million DKK (aprox 5.3million €) will be contributed to hosting the prestigious event.
Next Pernille Gaardbo explained why the decision for Refshaleøen was taken, saying that it will give fans something they have never seen before; Eurovision hosted on an island. This unique island setting represents Copenhagen and Denmark perfectly as it is surrounded by water.
Pernille then presented a photo portraying what the Eurovision Park, placed outside B&W Hallerne, where performances, activities, food and parties will take place throughout the event in May.
Regarding transport, shuttle buses will be available to transport people to and from the arena alongside the use of shuttle boats.
Jan Lagermand Lundme described the vision for the opening show describing confetti, lasers and fireworks lighting up the Copenhagen skyline while the hosts welcome everyone. The introduction for the artists will not be postcards specifically but portraits of each singer. He also talked about the 2014 slogan ‘Join Us‘ as bringing everyone closer.
