The hosts will not rhyme their way through the evening, as Søren Pilmark and Natasje crone became infamous for the last time Denmark hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001.
These are the conclusions of Jan Lagermand Lundme from DR in his first interview after starting in the responsible position as "Head of Show" for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark.
"You should not expect that", he says smiling.
He believes taht DR should learn from their experiences in 2001 when DR held the show in front of the biggest audience in the history of the contest - 35,000 guests.
"The 2001 Eurovision Song Contest in Parken was a great show for its time", says Jan Lagermand Lundme to DR's official Eurovision page.
"But we need to make sure it doesn't become too big next year. That isn't our mission today. Irrespective of whether it will take place in Parken or another place in Denmark, we need to consider creating something more intimate", believes Jan Lagermand Lundme.
A boyhood dream
For Jan Lagermand Lundme it is a boyhood dream to arrange the world's biggest music competition.
"Being part of producing the show next year really excites me", says Jan Lagermand Lundme, who as head of entertainment at DR since 2008 has among other things produced the Danish national selection Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and X Factor.
"I have dreamt about working with the Eurovision Song Contest since 1978, where I at 9 years old snook over to the neighbour's to see my first Eurovision on TV. And when the contest was in Copenhagen in 2001 it was extremely important for me to have a role in the big show. There, I was part of the production team that created the preview shows", he explains.
Wants to learn from Swedish TV
As "Head of Show" Jan Lagermand Lundme will be responsible for both the show's expression and content, including the hosts, script, opening acts and interval acts.
And it will be difficult to exceed Swedish TV when it comes to these points, he happily admits. Because they have produced what is possibly the best Eurovision Song Contest ever.
"There were three utterly fantastic shows in Malmö, for which I have nothing but praise and that I believe we can learn a lot from", he points out.
"In Moscow and Baku a lot of it was about how much the organisers could present and promote the host country. But in Malmö we saw that it is possible to scale down the show and to get better TV out of it. The most important thing is that money is channelled to the right places - namely to what the viewers experience on stage", explains Jan Lagermand Lundme.
Petra Mede was an exemplary host for the Eurovision Song Contest, believes DR's new Head of Show. He was impressed by her confidence and self-irony, which she demonstrated in the three live broadcasts.
"She was just great. Just the fact that she stood in the dress rehearsals without make up and her hair styled just goes to show how "grounded" she is. But we won't go looking for a Danish Petra Mede because it would be stupid to do exactly as the Swedes did", he adds.
Concrete visions ready after the summer
DR has this week compiled a small team, who in addition to Jan Lagermand Lundme, consists of Executive Producer Pernille Gaardbo, Søren Therkelsen from DR Event and Susanne Helbo from DR Jura.
They are now in the process of recruiting the best people from the TV industry to help develop the show as well as the overarching visions that the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will be based on.
"We already have many ideas but I don't want to reveal anything yet. I expect we will be ready to say more about our visions in August or September", he promises and reveals that today he held his first meeting with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) about next year's competition.
Parken and Boxen are not the only possibilities
A crucial decision is choosing the host city. Copenhagen, Herning, Aalborg, Horsens and Fredericia have all shown interest and more cities are expected to join the race.
"During the next week we will establish the framework for how the dialogue with the candidate cities will go. We will take all bids seriously and yes, there are of course other possibilities in the running than Parken in Copenhagen and Boxen in Herning", concludes Jan Lagermand Lundme.
