Danish final heads for Odense on 8th March 2014

Copenhagen, Denmark - In 2014, host country Denmark will be staging its national final at the Arena Fyn in Odense with a spectacular show planned for Saturday the 8th of March.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix has become an institution, not only in Denmark, but also among fans the world over, all of whom have eagerly been awaiting today's news. In March next year all eyes will be on Denmark's third largest city, Odense, where ten acts will compete to represent their country on home turf in Copenhagen on the 10th of May.

The last time Dansk Melodi Grand Prix was held on Funen was in 1993 when Tommy Seebach won the right to fly the Danish flag in Millstreet with the song Under stjernerne på himlen. Back then the event was held at the Odense Kongrescenter and in 2014 the event will hosted at the much larger Arena Fyn.

In 2014 it will be 21 years since Dansk Melodi Grand Prix was last held in Odense, on the island of Funen.

Deadline for entry submission looms
A press conference will take place in Odense on the 1st of October at 13:00 CET.

As such, the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 6th, 8th and 10th of May at the B&W-Hallerne on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen. As the host country, Denmark is automatically qualified to the Grand Final.

One Direction pose in European football jerseys looking hotter than the sun

Well this is geography test we're definitely going to fail

So yesterday One Direction announced extra dates for their Where We Are stadium tour, adding more shows in London, Manchester and Dublin. But besides that, they also revealed all the dates for the rest of the European leg which includes Paris, Amsterdam and Stockholm to name a few.

WELL, while we've been celebrating with a breakfast cupcake or five, the boys have been showing their excitement by posing in a bunch of football jerseys which make them look so hot we think our computers may catch fire if we look at them for too long.

Yep, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Harry and Niall have continued with this whole football kit theme they started when they announced their stadium tour at Wembley a few months back and we honestly could *not* be happier about it. It's like all our Christmases have come at once.

However, although some of the glorious pics have a helpful caption of which country they're referring to with their tops, most have had these bits cropped out which is making us anxious because we know nothing about football OR geography. Basically, this is going to be a challenge for us.

So far so good. Germany have a nice, simple shirt, don't they? And Italy's is *well* snazzy. They're like reflective.

Right. So, these are also blue. Is it France? France is pretty close to Italy.

ESPANOL. The boys look like they're loving this red number, particularly Zayn and Louis.

Jury rules tightened for 2014 Eurovision Song Contest

Earlier today, EBU/EUROVISION released the rules for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Although the fundamentals have not changed, organisers are tightening the rules and increasing openness on the jury voting, which makes up 50% of the outcome in each participating country.

Under the new rules, the names of all jury members will be announced on the 1st of May, before the contest. Additionally, EBU/EUROVISION will publish the ranking submitted by each individual jury member for all shows right after the Final, and thus the split results of jury voting and televoting for each country. To increase diversity, music industry professionals can only take a seat in a national jury if they have not been in the jury during one of the previous two editions of the contest.

Earlier this year, Emmelie de Forrest won the 2013 contest with Only Teardrops, securing Denmark's right to host the next edition of the contest for public broadcaster DR. The contest will be held on the 6th, 8th and 10th of May, 2014 at the B&W Hallerne in Copenhagen under the slogan 'Join Us!' The list of represented countries will be issued in early January.
