Sweden and Norway drawn into Semi-Finals

Geneva, Switzerland - Sweden and Norway have been drawn into Semi-Finals for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Upon request from the Host Broadcaster of the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, DR, the Reference Group unanimously approved that the Swedish broadcaster SVT and the Norwegian broadcaster NRK should participate in different Semi-Finals, to assure a fair distribution of tickets in the Nordic region.

Thus, last week it was drawn at the EBU headquarters in Geneva that Sweden will participate in the first Semi-Final and Norway will take part in the second Semi-Final. The draw was conducted by the Executive Supervisor of the contest, Jon Ola Sand, accompanied by the EBU Media Director Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser and Head of Television, Bettina Brinkman.

Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will be held on the 6th, 8th and 10th of May in Copenhagen, Denmark. The event, initiated by EBU/EUROVISION, will be hosted by the Danish public broadcaster DR.
